Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information PetNest collects when you visit the store or place an order, why we collect it, who we share it with and what control you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal shorthand.
1. Who we are
PetNest sells pet accessories for dogs, cats and fish at pet-nest.org. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean PetNest.
The business responsible for your information is [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME], at [REGISTERED BUSINESS ADDRESS]. You can reach us at any time at support@pet-nest.org.
2. What we collect
Information you give us when you shop or get in touch:
- Your name, email address, billing address and shipping address.
- Your phone number, which is required at checkout so we can reach you about your order.
- What you ordered, the value of the order and the payment method you chose.
- Any payment screenshot you upload when confirming a cryptocurrency payment.
- Messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Your account login details if you create an account. Checkout as a guest is also available.
Information collected automatically when you browse:
- Your IP address, browser type and device type.
- Pages you viewed and products you looked at.
- Cookie data as described in section 5.
3. Why we use it
We use your information to take payment, fulfil and deliver your order, send order confirmations and delivery updates, answer your questions, handle returns and refunds, keep records we are required to keep for tax and accounting, detect and prevent fraud, and improve how the store works.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Our legal grounds for using it
Where the law requires us to name a legal basis, we rely on the following. We process your order information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We keep transaction records because we have a legal obligation to do so. We use limited browsing data to run and secure the site because we have a legitimate interest in doing so. Where we ask for your consent, such as for marketing email, you can withdraw it at any time.
5. Cookies
The store uses cookies that are needed to make it work. WooCommerce sets cookies to remember what is in your cart and to keep you signed in during checkout. Our caching layer sets cookies so pages load quickly. WordPress sets a cookie when you log in to an account.
We do not currently run advertising or cross site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy before turning them on. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the cart and checkout will not work properly without the essential ones.
6. Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, and only with:
- Delivery carriers, so your order can be shipped to you.
- Our hosting and email provider, Hostinger, which stores the site and sends our order emails.
- Payment recipients, when you pay through Apple Pay, Chime or PayPal, limited to what those services need to identify your payment.
- Professional advisers, or a law enforcement or regulatory body, where we are legally required to disclose information.
7. Payment information
We do not collect or store full card numbers on this website.
If you pay by Apple Pay, Chime or PayPal, your order is placed on hold and our team contacts you with payment details. The payment itself happens inside that provider, under their own privacy policy, and we see only enough to match the payment to your order.
If you pay with cryptocurrency, the blockchain transaction is public by design. We store the confirmation screenshot you upload against your order so we can verify payment. Please do not include anything in that screenshot beyond the transaction itself.
8. How long we keep it
We keep order and transaction records for seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. We keep contact form messages and email correspondence for up to two years. If you have an account, we keep it until you ask us to close it. Browsing and cookie data is kept for a short period and then discarded.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or restrict how we use it. You can also object to certain uses, and ask for your information in a portable format.
If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect and why, the right to have it deleted, the right to correct it, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@pet-nest.org. We will respond within the time the law allows, normally within 30 days, and we may need to verify who you are before we act.
10. Children
This store is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. How we protect your information
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, our order email is sent through an authenticated mail server, and access to the store admin is limited to accounts that need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take these steps seriously and review them as the store grows.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing the text.
13. Contact us
Questions, requests or complaints about privacy go to support@pet-nest.org. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
